Upper Valley Rowing Foundation Hanover Connecticut River
My my My my

The Upper Valley Rowing Foundation is the home for community rowing in and around the Upper Connecticut River Valley. We offer a wide variety of programs and opportunities - we hope that you will come and join us out on the river.

As we head into head racing season (where did the summer go?) we are swapping the Saturday morning smackdowns for 4800m time trials. The course starts at the 500m mark on the race course (500m upstream from Kendal dock on the Vermont side of the river) and goes downstream, ending at the D of the Dartmouth dock. It is self-timed (or not), self-seeded, and all abilities are welcome, so do join in the fun! We've had pretty much every boat type out there, from beginner Maas Aeros to the shiniest, fastest, racing shells - there's room for all, so please don't be hesitate to join us - we love adding newcomers to the mix!

The start time is 7:30am. Launch in time to warm up and then gather above the 500m point on the course by 7:30am.  We'll work out what the start order will be (usually slowest boats to fastest boats), how many seconds or minutes between each boat there should be, and then the time trial starts. Paul Gross has been keeping track of the times for the past 10+ years, he sends out an update every weekend with the times, river flow and weather conditions for that week, if you would like to be added to his email group to receive these updates, email uppervalleyrc@gmail.com.

This is a great way to get some "race" experience in a non-threatening venue, or to just get a great workout.  So sign out a boat and give it a try.  They get easier the more you do!!
